The Young Ones are crowned Brereton Quiz Team Champions 2017

A very close run quiz was hotly contested with 13 teams competing for the title of Quizzers of Brereton.

Quiz-master Roland Morse hosted a great quiz evening over 8 rounds of tough but fun questions.

During the interval, apart from feasting on snacks and refreshments, everyone took a break from the quiz to participate in a game of Stand-Up Bingo, won by Jean Newham.

Whilst the scorer, Shirley Strang, was totalling up all the scores, the raffle was drawn. Winners selected their prize from a splendid table of prizes.

In the end, two teams – “The Young Ones” and “Sweet Nightingales Not”, had the highest score, and a so the quiz-master set a tie-break question.

In which year was London’s Tower Bridge opened?

Even the tie-break was a very close call with both teams giving answers of 1895 and 1891.

The closest to the correct answer of 1894 was “The Young Ones”.

So, congratulations to “The Young Ones” (from left to right, Roland Morse – quiz-master, Jill Matusiak, Bish Matusiak, Judith Davenport, Peter Newham, Colin Davenport, and Jean Newham) pictured collecting their awards.

This was a hugely enjoyable evening, with several people commenting, “Can we do evenings like this more often?”. Watch this space!

The social event was held primarily as a fun evening, but also to raise the necessary funds to help keep the Community Interest Group running for another year.

Thanks to everyone who supported the event and of course to our quiz-master Roland.
