“Friendly” Whist Drive was worth waiting for!
A wonderful night was had by all at the ‘friendly’ Brereton Whist Drive at the end of November. This is the first one held in the village this century!
Many of the 48 people who attended hadn’t played the card game for over four decades and were a little nervous at the start of the evening. However after a quick reminder of the rules from Godfrey we soon settled down to a lovely sociable evening with lots of laughing along the way. Young and old played side by side and it a great village event.
Winners include 1st male Oliver Davenport and 1st female Debbie Breeze (who’d never even heard of the game 6 weeks before and had received basic training from Wendy!)
Booby prizes went to Ann Peach and Colin Davenport.
Many thanks to Helen Marsh and Tracy Burtonshaw for providing the half time refreshments.
Including the raffle the evening made a profit of £183 which will go to church funds.
Everyone is looking forward to the next whist drive in the new year – date to be confirmed!
